We live in a culture that rewards, worships even, constant production, our value is based on how much we produce. Most of us are forced to adhere to imposed, intense schedules and routines starting from an early age beginning with school, which requires waking up way too early, followed by hours of homework, and then scheduled extracurricular activities, all of which prime us to move into the working world where we spend at least a third of our lives, minimum, grinding away to ‘get ahead’. We are not taught to turn inward, listen to our bodies, to our hearts, or how to rest and restore ourselves, and in fact rest is not valued. There’s that horribly misguided yet popular saying, I’ll rest when I die. Wow! If you stop to really think about that mentality it’s no wonder anxiety, depression, a host of autoimmune diseases, and loneliness are modern epidemics. Our nervous systems are fried.

To reject the concept of constant productivity is a revolutionary idea for modern humans. Learning to move with the cycles of the seasons, at Earth pace is the way we can reclaim our sovereignty. It allows us to honor and align ourselves with the natural world so that we can restore our equilibrium, enabling us to live in a state of balance, joy and abundance.
